We had a timely arrival to FRA, and disembarked in Pier . We had time to spare to our flight to Helsinki. Priority pass has crappy lounge agreements in FRA. Fortunately the Mrs. had lounge access through her CC to the Lufthansa Business Lounge.
It had been ages since I had seen a Singapore A380
Entering the LH Business Lounge, was a bit of a hassle, but we made it through. The place looked quite orderly. Not fancy, but practical. LH style in the end.
I helped myself with some "German" delicacies from the buffet bar. This way we compensated for not having anything to eat on the MAD-FRA run. As you may see from the paper in the second picture, the horrible war in Ukraine was just starting. You could feel a slight tension in the environment all around. 'Twere uncertain times…
It's a shame that we didn't have unobstructed view to the apron…not many Jumbo's that morning though
Time passed by and it was time to board our next flight. Happily we didn't have to walk much to our gate.
Our gate is one of the odd ones in FRA where the plane parks in parallel to the terminal in the space between piers A and B
So here were the jumbos!
And a TK intruder
boarding
Boarding was called, we were on one of the last groups to board
This plane was fitted too with the spartan, yet not horrible seats that are commonplace in LH's short/medium haul fleet
It was a rather full flight to Finland
enroute to suomi
We took off towards the West
We crossed over the clouds and then headed north, so we passed once more over Frankfurt
We cruised between the clouds and the clear blue skies
Then we had the award-winning service. (And it's better than IB)
We then passed over…Berlin (?)
And reached the Baltic (this was officially the northmost I had been in my life)
Most of the flight consisted in crossing this calm sea… meantime, my thoughts were with those in the havoc a south of there, and how we were nearing the wolf's den… I happened to put a "World War 3" podast in the meantime…great entertainment!
Eventually, Estonia came into view
Which meant, landing was due… we entered Finland west of Espoo
And had a scenic air tour of Helsinki
Zoom into the downtown
And Kalasatama, where we were going to stay
And…another view of the city, now showing more of the East and North
We did a U turn towards the west and lined up with Vantaa's runways
Moi Suomi!
There was a One World long haul convention at HEL
The ATC tower
We unbarked our Star Alliance-liveried A320 and headed to the train station

Conclusion
This flight was a bit better than the first one. Maybe because of the novelty of flying to a new place (and new country!). Since I was awake I managed to score the water and chocolate service. As mentioned before, the seats are better than what you get at other European airlines...but not the best. (Have you ever thought how bad the services is in Europe in general?)
FRA wasn't as horrible as I expected, probably because I had a lot of time (my previous visits 10 years earlier involved a lot of running to make it in the connection) and the LH Lounge was a nice way to spend my time.
HEL was undergoing works at the time. T1 was about to be shut, and it felt like a little regional airport rather than a hub. The walk to the train station was a bit long. While there is a train link to the city, going from the main train station to other parts of town may involve some inconvenient commuting (as my knowlege of "Stadi" has improved, this hasn't been much of a hassle in other visits).
Thanks for passing by, saludos!

Oooo, very very nice. Gosh, look at that beautiful 747-400 from lounge!!
Once again only a chocolate and bottle of water for the 2.5 hour flight?? Dissapointing… At least the chocolate is LH branded 😂
Congrats on reaching a new country! Finland!
Yeah, it’s sort of wild to think that certain carriers in Africa offer better service than those in Europe…
Thanks for sharing this flight report, and I hope you had a wonderful time in Finland!!!
