Routing

introduction

If you're planning on taking the bus back to the airport from Dublin city centre, it's probably best to plan ahead with a good margin. First, because the traffic heading out of the city can be quite heavy, and second, because the airport busses tend to fill up rather quickly. Priority to board the bus is always given to passengers who already have a ticket.

At the airport

The bus will drop you off right in front of Terminal 2, which is where Aer Lingus operates from. As I've already checked in online, I just head straight up to security.

My flight is leaving from a small remote terminal that is only accessible by shuttle bus from the main terminal. The facilities are rather limited.

But the views of the ramp are good.

boarding

To be honest, I didn't really bother to research this flight much. As it turns out, I have a fare that includes priority boarding.

Boarding is from both the forward and rear doors. As I'm seated in 4A, I take the first set of stairs.

No doubt about who I'm travelling with today…

The cabin & seat

Given that the aircraft was on the ground in Dublin for quite a while before its flight to Zürich, I'm surprised by who untidy the cabin looks. Other than that, 4A is a good seat. The views are good and the seat pitch is manageable.

It helps that 4B remains empty on this flight.

the service & crew

The crew and friendly and cheery. As they pass through the cabin, they have a friendly word for everyone and are very efficient.

catering

I haven't had lunch yet, so I order myself a small sandwich, which hits the spot nicely. Although I would have preferred something without meat.

arrival

The time passes quickly, and very soon we're descending into Zürich.

We land and then taxi to our stand at the E pier.

On out right, the Emirates A 380 has just pulled onto its stand, and for a horrible moment I fear that immigration is going to be a nightmare. But the process goes swiftly enough.

Conclusion

It's difficult to find anything to say about this flight with Aer Lingus. They're wasn't anything obviously bad about the flight. But it wasn't particularly memorable either. I have no objection flying with them again, but I wouldn't go out of my way.
